Whenever huz and I travel, it’s a joy for us to explore the country’s food, culture and history. This post is dedicated to a delicious memory I have of Madrid, Spain. Downtown Madrid was busy with people of all ages going out for late night eats and was surrounded by the landscape of European buildings and romantic lights. In the horizon, my eyes were locked on a sign that read “Churros con Chocolate.” It was love at first sight. The churros were made fresh-to-order, crispy and sugary with a chewy texture. If you’re into healthy smoothies, then I have something for you! I discovered this recipe the other day when I was craving a refreshing drink before a workout, but didn’t want to consume anything sugary or unhealthy.
After looking into my fridge, I threw into the blender what was surprisingly a good blend! This recipe is great since all the ingredients I used are items I normally have in my refrigerator or pantry. I get excited when we receive goodies from all around the country. Recently, I received fresh honey crisp apples and homemade apple butter from my sister-in-law who lives in Walla Walla, Washington. I like to describe apple butter as “savory grown-up applesauce”. Her jar of Walla Walla apple butter was so yummy that I was inspired to pair it with pumpkin pancakes.
My husband grew up eating fresh bread. So of course, one day, he requested fresh bread as if it was no big deal. I had never made bread – did not even have the slightest idea of how to make fresh bread. But thankfully, we ran into a slightly used second-hand bread maker which was good news for me and great news for hubby. Continue reading
Don’t kid yourself, this isn’t a healthy post. Today, I will share with you all one of my guilty pleasures: freshly baked Camembert Pastry Bread.
To me, there are few things better than fresh pastries or bread coming out of the oven. Now just stuff some cheese and jam in there and all my healthy eating goals are out the window.
